Hall of Fame Caps That Could Have Been

Mike Piazza, the twelve-time All-Star who holds the record for the most home runs hit by a catcher, will be inducted into baseball’s Hall of Fame this weekend. He will become only the second inductee to be depicted wearing a New York Mets cap in the portrait on his commemorative plaque. I’m a native New Yorker and Mets fan since childhood, so it feels sacrilegious to admit that I think Piazza should be immortalized as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he played the first half of his dazzling career.
