Aerie’s New Body-Empowerment Campaign Uses Real Women As Models
The latest campaign to shine a spotlight on relatable-looking models is Aerie, the American Eagle Outfitters lingerie-and-swimwear offshoot that’s made a name for itself — and a dedicated hashtag, #aeriereal — based on body positivity. Aerie’s latest impassioned project is The Share Your Spark Experience, which the brand released as a video in its YouTube page featuring 40 inspiring “Aerie girls” ranging from professional models to everyday women letting loose. “Half of the girls had never even been on a photo shoot,” the video’s narrator says, plus-size model Iskra Lawrence, “and yet all these women proudly bared their real selves to share share spark with girls everywhere.” The women — who range in size, ethnicity, and age — all have one thing in common: they seem to glow from the inside out.
