Durban - A Durban pensioner was told he could not vote on Wednesday morning because he was dead.

Friedrich Roggencamp walked out of the voting station at George Campbell Technical High School, with a look of disbelief on his face.

“Do you know I'm deceased?” he said.

When Roggencamp, 74, who is from the Beach Front, came to register at the same station a few months ago, he was told he was listed as deceased.

But he got a sticker and was under the impression the issue had been resolved.

However when he tried to cast his ballot, he was turned away.

Roggencamp has lived in Durban for almost 30 years and voted several times.

He proudly showed off the stamp covered pages of his ID book.

He said was fed up with the state of the country and was planning on moving to Germany.

Nonetheless, he left the station in high spirits and planned on enjoying the rest of the public holiday.
