Fransman proudly announces he’s voting ANC
Cape Town - ANC provincial chairman Marius Fransman proudly announced he'd be voting for the ANC on Wednesday.
Fransman said that he believed he had been vindicated and was focusing on voting.
Earlier this year Fransman was accused of sexually harassing his 21-year-old assistant.
When he cast his vote in Kuils River he said he was happy the day had finally come and wasted no time to attack the DA.
“The DA didn't do a lot, when looking at their campaign and what they did do was not good.”
He added that during debates leading up to the elections, the ANC's mayoral candidate Xolani Sotashe “outsmarted and outclassed” mayor Patricia de Lille.
“The irony is that she (De Lille) wears a mask when she goes into poor areas saying that it is a health risk. People in poor areas are the majority force. What we need to do is celebrate what our people have done,” Fransman said.
“Despite the ANC not always having enough resources our volunteers put in so much and I believe that we will surprise a lot of people.”
Fransman stressed how important local government elections are for citizens.
“Local government elections are the closest to the people. I hope that after the elections it will count for the people.”
He said local government should focus on youth unemployment.
“Unless we work on that, we will have a problem. My wish is that political parties will focus on youth unemployment.”
After addressing the media, Fransman avoided the queues and went straight to the front to cast his vote.
Fransman was due to visit polling stations in Khayelitsha after voting to encourage voters to cast their votes.
