|||Pretoria - Outgoing Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa cast his vote amidst an ecstatic reception at the Seaparankwe Primary School in Atteridgeville on Wednesday afternoon.
A ululating crowd jumped to get up close to Ramokgopa and raised their cellphones and tablets to snap photos as he stood in the voting queue.
He was accompanied by his wife and child, and spokesperson Blessing Manale.
Wearing a blue jacket and ANC cap, he was full of smiles for the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) staff as he slotted his ballot papers into the correct boxes.
After he had made his mark, he told journalists waiting outside that his vote was secret, before chuckling.
“The results will be very good,” he said.
