One voter, Daneshree Jagoo, told Independent Media that she had been waiting in a queue for more than an hour.
“People do not know what to do or where to go. So they are moving from line to line clueless as to what the next step is.”
She said there was only one Home Affairs official who was assisting people to get their temporary IDs.
“He is doing the best he can but there are quite a few people still waiting.”
Home Affairs tweeted on Tuesday that people who wished to apply for temporary ID documents needed to bring two ID photos.
The department also tweeted that the following offices across the country were offline: Garankuwa, Mhala,Thabazimbi, Port St Johns, Bela Bela, Seshego, Modimolle, Praktiseer, Naboom, Bochum, Tzaneen, Lenyenye, Senwamokgope, Nqamakhwe, Alice and Swartruggens.
Home Affairs offices are open until 7pm on Wednesday.
