While DC comics and Marvel has continued to feed us heroes, whom we love watching and have come to connect with, we also have Nigerian superheroes.
A special breed of superheroes created by comic houses in Nigeria, that are slowly gaining recognition in Nigeria, Africa and even off the continent.
Ready to meet them?
1. Avonome
Created by Comic Republic Nigeria, Avonome is from Benin. Her full name is Hilda Avonomemi Moses.
She was born in 1937, in the remote village of Etunor, a settlement in Ighara, Edo state. She disappears without a trace only to reappear in a cemetery in recent times.
She returns with no memory of who she was or where she had been all this while, except a knowledge of her name, a mysterious companion and an unbelievable gift – the ability to see spirits.

2. Eru
Eric Kukoyi might look like a normal man. But he is not. According to Comic Republic, he doesn’t age or sleep. He lectures at the University of Lagos, and doubles as a par time psychiatrist and parapsychologist. At night, he becomes ‘Eru’ (Fear). He haunts the streets of Lagos bringing retribution.
3. Ireti
Ireti’s story began many decades ago in the Yoruba kingdom. A king desperate for a child makes a deal with a deity. The result? The birth of a child, Ireti. The child grows into a mighty warrior with powers that surpass normal men greatly; leading armies to battle, conquering kingdoms and protecting her people.
Her legacy is passed down generation after generation.
4. Guardian Prime
Guardian Prime was created by Comic republic. He is Tunde Jaiye, the fifth element, one of the five essential elements on earth (earth, air, water, fire and man). He is the perfect man created how God intended man to be ( in his image).
He can do everything a normal man can do only magnified to almost godlike levels. He is the Guardian born to the human race as is customary every 2000 years. He is Nigerian. He is Guardian Prime.

5. Strike Guard
Strike Guard was created by Vortex comics. His story goes thus:
Abolaji was an undergraduate at the University of Lagos, who was killed by cultists and thrown in the same well as Ajagbeja, a general of the Sango army thrown into as well in ancient times.
Ajagbeja’s soul makes a deal with Abolaji’s soul which was still wandering on earth. The deal was that Ajagbeja will have a chance to live again by coexisting in Abolaji’s body. Imbuing him with powers.
