Exposed: Group reveals ONE action Buhari took that caused problem in Niger Delta
– The Niger Delta Coalition for Peace and Equity blamed President Buhari for Niger Delta conflict
– The group said the appointments in the NDDC were lopsided
A group, Niger Delta Coalition for Peace and Equity has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the problem in the Niger Delta region.
The region has been a hub of militant activities who have claimed responsibility for the destruction of oil and gas pipelines.
Vanguard reports that Gabriel Mamuzo who is the president of the group said on Thursday, August 4 that the way the president handled the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He said: “Despite Buhari’s promise to continue with the amnesty programme for the Niger Delta ex-militants and his purposeful pursuit of a clean-up exercise in Ogoni land, the restive Niger Delta region has refused to be assuaged.

“One puzzling move by the President a while ago was the dramatic dissolution the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, two years into its four-year constitutional tenure. This dissolution saw the exit of Bassey Dan Abia, former Managing Director and Mr. Tuoyo Omatsuli, Executive Director Projects amongst others.
“The controversy that trailed the dissolution was discussed in hushed tones all over the Niger Delta, not only because it lacked constitutionality, but because it was over politicized. While it was expected, with the impending nominations that an Itsekiri man would replace Engr. Tuoyo Omatsuli as Executive Director Projects, it came as a shock that an Urhobo man, Engr Samuel Adjogbe was nominated to replace him on the NDDC board, while an Isoko man, Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo was nominated by the Presidency as the member representing Delta State on the board of NDDC, leaving the Itsekiri nation in the lurch.

“As the Delta State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, jubilate over their victory in cornering two positions on the board, the Itsekiris are left to lick their wounds for losing two years on the NDDC board due to the premature termination of the tenure of their son, Omatsuli as Executive Director Projects.
“Meanwhile, it is no secret that so many illustrious sons of the Itsekiri nation are ardent and unrepentant supporters of the Buhari APC government.”
Meanwhile, militants causing disturbances in the Niger Delta may have courted more trouble following a recent training pattern by the Nigerian army.
