The dollar is surging

The dollar is surging after Friday's stellar Jobs Report.
The US dollar index is up by 0.7% at 96.46 as of 10:29 a.m. ET.
The US economy added 255,000 jobs in July, many more than expected, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%.
"July jobs report marks a second straight month of strong job gains and should put away recent concerns about a hiring slowdown in the economy. As we approach the elections, it could give Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton a stronger argument for the status quo," noted Business Insider's Akin Oyedele.

As for the rest of the world, here's the scoreboard as of 10:32 a.m. ET:
- The British pound is down by 0.5% at 1.3047 against the dollar. Separately, Goldman Sachs said it may have to "restructure" parts of its UK business in the post-Brexit environment.
- The euro is lower by 0.6% at 1.1065 against the dollar. Spanish industrial production came in at up 0.8% year-over-year in June, below expectations of an increase to 1.6%. Meanwhile, Italian industrial production fell 1.0%, below expectations of an increase of 1.0%.
- The Japanese yen is down 0.6% at 101.85 per dollar.
- The Russian ruble is stronger by 0.7% at 65.3553 per dollar.
