FG recalls ALL mine officers for security reasons
– Minister of Solid Minerals development, Kayode Fayemi says the directive was to provide safety for the country
– He adds all the officers across all the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are recalled
– The recall comes just hours after Fayemi discovered that a Delta state company diverted explosives to militants

The federal government has recalled mine officers across the country in the bid to reinforce the productivity of the extractive industry.
Minister of Solid Minerals development, Kayode Fayemi on Friday, issued a directive ordering the immediate recall of all federal mines officers in the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory.

This directive was contained in a statement released by Fayemi’s special assistant on media, Yinka Oyebode. The statement quoted the minister as saying that the move is part of measures to strengthen the institutional capacity of the ministry to work with the security agencies to secure lives and property.
“In the pursuit of our mandate to deepen the productivity of the mining industry, we will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to guarantee that the security of lives and property, as well as [ensure] safety of the environment is not compromised,” Fayemi said.

According to Sahara Reporters, the statement said that all the recalled officers should report to the headquarters of the solid minerals development ministry in Abuja for further directives on their next assignments. The statement said letters have been dispatched to the state and zonal offices of the ministry nationwide to ensure swift take-off.
