Dogara told reporters that budget padding is not a crime and promised not to step down from office despite growing calls on him to do so.
He said: “I am a lawyer and have been a legislator for a while, I never knew of an offence called budget padding.”
The speaker added that since he has not committed any offence, the question of him resigning “does jot even arise.”
This came as the former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin alleged that the leadership of the lower chamber of the Nigerian Senate padded the 2016 budget.
