6 Nigerian female singers who blew up then FADED fast (photos)
The Nigerian music industry is very peculiar and if an artiste manages to be in the public eye for an extended period of time, best believe that artiste will do all he or she can to remain in that position. The names mentioned in this list seem to have dropped off the public eye due to one reason or the other.
1. Omawumi
The last we heard of Oma Wonder, she was storming of an interview where the presenter asked if she smoked. That was in May. After that, news broke that she had welcomed a second child with her husband Tosin Yusuf in July. Her collabo with the legendary Angelique Kidjo (Play na Play) is her most recent effort and this was released back in January! She was also spotted at the Buckwild and Breathless concert that held yesterday. We understand she has taken time off to raise her kids, but we would appreciate some new material from her.

2. Chidinma
Ask yourself this; when last did you hear that Project Fame Alumni Chidinma released new music? Instead she has been in the news for other reasons. If she is not dating Clarence Peters today, it is Flavour tomorrow. Can someone please advise her to focus on the music? Even though MTN has renewed her contract this year, without new material, she may not be lucky next time.
3. Niyola
Can you believe Niyola started music professionally back in 2005? Way before Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay and other now popular female stars. And still, she doesn’t have a debut album. All we have are a spattering of singles that fade as soon as they are released. As a fan of the EME records first lady, I can only hope that she gets her act together fast!
4. Muna
Remember when ex MBGN Munachi Abii claimed to be the hottest female rapper in Africa? Those days are long gone. Last we heard, she works as an OAP at Urban FM.

5. Kel
After years in the wilderness, Kel is attempting to stage a comeback. First we saw her rapping in the Hennessy Cypher. Then she released a song Act Like You Do. Will Nigerians take notice again? Only time would tell.
6. Mo’Cheddah
When she released the song Destinambari two years ago, most thought ‘Yes, Mo is back’. But that was not to be as she went off the radar for some time. When she got back, it was her relationship with OAP Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi’s brother that brought her back to our attention. She has a new song out though (Let Me Love You). If you want to know more about her, just wait for photos of celebs at any event to be published. You’ll surely spot her there.
