|||Johannesburg - Officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) would remove posters belonging to political parties after the “grace period” to remove their election campaign posters expired, the City of Johannesburg said on Monday.
City of Johannesburg spokesperson Virgil James said the deadline for political parties to remove all election campaign posters was Friday, September 2.
He said a majority of them have been removed in the city. None of the political parties have been fined for not removing their posters as required by law, said James.
“Metro police will remove the remaining posters if they come across any and the parties will collect them,” said James.
He said that removing posters was not something that will be happening overnight it will take time to get them all removed.
