Sleep in an original 13th-century Rupestrian church, now the ‘Hotel in Stone’, a boutique dwelling in the Sassi (old town) of Unesco-listed Matera. It’s a great base from which to get lost in the undulating, mesmerising streets of this Neolithic cave town.
