Felabration 2016 has come and gone but this year’s event saw a lot of great performances, highlights and of course, controversy.

One of shuch controversy was when son of the legendary Fela and afro beat legend in his own right, Femi took to the stage to blast veteran musician Dede Mabiaku.

There had been various reports that all was not well between Dede and the Kuti’s but this is the first time anyone from both side has confirmed the rift. “He claims he’s Fela’s son but anytime we do anything for Fela, he never shows up. We don’t pay anybody to come for Felabration; we just mention Fela’s name and artiste turn up because of their love for Fela. So anybody we wan shakara us make he go die,” he said while performing alongside Daddy Showkey.

For those who do not know, Dede is a protege of Fela. He was an integral part of Fela’s daily life when he was alive and he usually opened the stage at all Fela’s local and international shows.
