EFCC boss Ibrahim Magu boasts, says he has performed better than Ribadu, others

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu has boasted about his achievements as the leader of the anti-graft agency.
Magu on Tuesday, October 25, said his achievements have out-shined that of his predecessors – Nuhu Ribadu, Farida Waziri and Ibrahim Lamorde.
Speaking at the commission’s headquarters while hosting a team of participants of the Pakistani National School of Policy (NSP), Magu said the EFCC have recovered more funds in his tenure since its establishment.
“We have achieved a lot in terms of recovery of looted funds and properties in the past 11 months more than was achieved in the last 12 years of the existence of the commission,” Magu said.

The EFCC boss said although there have been challenges faced by the commission in carrying out its tasks, himself and his staff have been focused on actualizing the corruption free Nigeria mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also commended the Pakistani team for visiting the anti-graft agency, stating that the anti-corruption fight embarked upon by the President Buhari-led government is total and geared towards bringing the nation’s economy back on a sound footing.
“In order to check corruption amongst staff, the Commission created a Department Of Internal Affairs, DIA, charged with the responsibility of vetting intending staff, investigating staff, receiving petitions from the public concerning staff and making sure all members of the staff are men of integrity,” he said.
Also speaking, the directing staff at the NSP Irum Bakhari who led the eight-man delegation said they visited because the team was interested in learning from the commission.
Bukhari said: “We are here because we are interested in learning from the EFCC. We want to know your composition, your success stories, the laws that govern your activities as we are also striving very much in our country to fight corruption, extremism and terrorism.”

She said the team was at the EFCC: “To study and improve themselves in other to handle key positions in the decision making of our country.”
She further expressed optimism that the visit would further strengthen the bilateral relationship of both countries.
The commission lamenting the low conviction of alleged financial criminals said the allocation is a standard practice in all developed countries.
