Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly sack four villages in Chawai Chiefdom of Kamaru Ward in Kauru local government in Kaduna state, killing at least 31 people.
Daily Trust reports that the attackers raided the villages at about 5:00pm on November 13 torching several houses and killing scores.
The source said the locals had information that the villages were going to be attacked and they warned the security agencies only for the gunmen to make good their threat by attacking the villages Sunday evening.

The four villages that suffered from the attacks are Ungwan Rimi, Kitakum, Ungwan Magaji and Kigam all in Kauru LGA.
In one of the villages only two houses remained standing while the rest have been razed to the ground, the source said.
According to the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) the death toll is at 31 including 2 from Ungwan Rimi, 1 in Kitakum, 17 in Ungwan Magaji and 11 Kigam.
Usman Aliyu, police spokesman, confirmed the incident but said the police is yet to determine the number of people killed.
Aliyu added the investigation is ongoing and details would be release to the public as soon as the police is able to find out more about what happened.
Pius Bakam, the Council Chairman of Kauru local government area, who also confirmed the incident, said the casualties figure is over 30.
“I can confirm to you that there were attacks on our communities, the casualty figure is over 30, the youth are still searching for more dead bodies.
“The dead bodies will be given a mass burial tomorrow (Today. The attacked is unfortunate and condemnable,” he stated.

The clashes between herdsmen mostly belonging to the Fulani ethnic group and settled farming communities have already killed hundreds of people in 2016.
President Muhammadu Buhari called an investigation after clashes in February in Benue state that reportedly resulted in hundreds of deaths.
