Nigeria’s minister of health, Professor Isaac Adewole says the challenges in the health sector may continue
Adewole made the comments when he spoke at a public hearing organised by the House of Representatives committee on healthcare services chaired by Honourable Chike Okafor from Imo state.
The minister’s comment is not unconnected to the fact that the present administration further reduced the health sector funding by 33 per cent in the 2016 budget.

Adewole stated that unless there was a remarkable improvement in the 2017 budget, the challenges in the health sector could only get worse.
“We became a laughing stock globally when the 2016 health budget was reduced by 33 per cent. The impression is that we are not a serious nation,” the minister told the lawmakers.
The Buhari government had budgeted N221.7billion for the health sector in the 2016 budget, a figure lower than the N259.7bn budgeted for the same purpose by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Meanwhile, popular human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has stated that the much touted anti-corruption fight of President Muhammadu Buhari has been a failure.

Falana made the comment while speaking at the 4th Convocation Lecture of Oduduwa University, in Ile Ife Osun state.
