Court won’t hear appeal of rabbi after wife beaten to death
TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey’s highest court won’t hear an appeal from a rabbi convicted of plotting the 1994 murder-for-hire of his wife at their home.
The state Supreme Court announced its decision Tuesday. That means a state appellate court decision that rejected Fred Neulander’s bid to overturn his conviction will stand.
The 75-year-old Neulander is serving a life sentence for the beating death his 52-year-old wife, Carol Neulander. His lawyer has argued there were errors at his trial and he was denied effective counsel.
