Jets planned 2-3 weeks ago to play Petty in final 4 games
NEW YORK — Jets coach Todd Bowles says he decided about 2-to-3 weeks ago to play Bryce Petty at quarterback for New York’s final four games to get an extended look at the second-year player.
Bowles announced after the Jets’ 41-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night that Petty would start the rest of the season, sending Ryan Fitzpatrick to the sideline.
The coach says Tuesday during a conference call that Fitzpatrick will serve as Petty’s backup for at least the next few weeks.
