At Least 25 Dead After Powerful Earthquake Strikes Indonesia

At least 25 people were killed Wednesday after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
The quake hit the province of Aceh around 5 a.m. local time, according to the US Geological Survey. Photos and video from the area showed buildings collapsed, and the Associated Press reported dozens were destroyed.

Pidie Jaya district chief Aiyub Abbas told the AP 25 people were killed in the earthquake in his district alone. More people were believed to be trapped underneath rubble.
Forecasters said there was no danger of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake.
