Fire prompts evacuation of Indianapolis hotel; several hurt
INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities say an early-morning fire at a three-story residential hotel in Indianapolis prompted an evacuation of the smoke-filled building and left several people injured.
The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hotel Indy on the city’s northeast side. Fire officials say six people were taken to hospitals for treatment, including one listed in critical condition, and at seven others were treated at the scene.
Officials say about 45 of the hotel’s roughly 60 rooms were occupied and firefighters safely rescued 10 people from windows and balconies.
