One year after, Senate moves to confirm appointment of EFCC boss Magu
The Senate has revealed that it will hold confirmation hearing over the appointment of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss Ibrahim Magu.
Senators want Saraki to allow Magu to be confirmed
Deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu confirmed during plenary in the upper house of legislature on Wednesday, December 7 that the confirmation hearing for Magu will be held on Thursday, December 8.
The confirmation of Magu, when carried out tomorrow, comes over a year after he was installed in acting capacity by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

It also comes just days after senators demanded that senate president Bukola Saraki release status report of the Department of State Service (DSS) on Magu and let the upper legislative chamber move ahead to confirm his appointment.
Daily Trust reported that the delay in confirming Magu's appointment has begun to worry senators who feel the issue was becoming embarrassing.
It quoted a senator as saying: "Why and what is he holding the report for?
“People are alleging that we are trying to frustrate the corruption fight of this administration but it is not so. Let him release it now.”

Another senator, a ranking lawmaker, added: “There is growing agitation among our colleagues and by this week if nothing happens, we will raise point of order on it."
“The security report should be discussed in a closed session for us to know the next line of action. For unknown reason, the Senate President has been holding this, he should let it out."
