WTO members initiated membership talks for the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste at a meeting of the organization’s General Council on 7 December. Members agreed to establish working parties to negotiate membership terms for the two countries and to welcome them as observers to the WTO.
