NAIJ.com internet person of the year: Who is your discovery of 2016? (POLL)
In the year 2016, NAIJ.com made a lot of discoveries in Nigeria, from wonderful people doing wonderful things, to hilarious phenomena in the largest black nation in the world.
Here are the most awesome discoveries we made, and we would love our readers to vote their best discovery of the outgoing year. Voting shall be also conducted on our main social media page (Facebook).
1. Alhaji Pa Mohammed Bello Abubakar
Pa Mohammed Bello Abubakar
Pa Mohammed Bello Abubakar earned our respect in a bizarre but dignified way. In fact, we are in awe of him.
At a time, when the life expectancy of the average man is put at 52 years, the octogenarian Pa Bello Abubakar is the husband of 97 wives. Yes, you read it right. Ninety-seven wives and over 190 children spread over 5,000 strong household in Bida, Nigeria.
Pa Bello is an Islamic scholar and faith healer. In 2008, the man was detained for weeks for not following the Sharia law of marrying not more than four wives.
He was ordered to divorce about 82 of his wives, leaving him with just four (at that time because he later married more), as prescribed by Islam. He refused.
The case dragged into an Abuja High Court, where he was released after the testimony of 57 of the wives that they married him willingly. For being a stud at 97, Pa Bello is on our shortlist as the discovery of the year.

2. Susan Asakpa
Abuja female taxi driver Susan Asakpa
In a business dominated by males, Susan Asakpa has distinguished herself in the Abuja transportation landscape. We salute her courage, self-belief and determination to break the stereotype.
Working as a taxi driver is no mean feat. Only the fittest can survive the traffic, road rage and the madness on Nigerian roads.
Susan Asakpa belongs to the list of Nigerian women who are surviving as entrepreneurs in spite of daunting odds and the economic recession. For choosing to be different while pursuing her dream, Susan is on our shortlist of the discovery of the year.
