Cement truck explosion leaves 5 homes without gas service
GARY, Ind. — An explosion in Gary, Indiana, left a handful of households without gas service as temperatures plunged below freezing.
The (Munster) Times reports (http://bit.ly/2hfLv8L ) the explosion occurred Friday when a cement truck struck some power lines and sparked a fire that spread to the truck’s gas tank.
Utility provider NIPSCO initially turned off gas and electric service to 24 houses in the city’s Miller Beach area because the explosion ruptured a gas line.
