The paper comperes the functioning of the shi-forms in two Pskov dialects and one Smolensk dialect. Participial forms have different predicative functions in the Pskov dialects: they are not only used as part of the so-called perfect, but also to designate a continuous action and as a main predicate in the adverbial clause. In 1950, during the “linguistics debate”, Joseph Stalin declared the Kursk-Oryol dialect the foundation of the Russian literary language. This statement puzzled linguists. The paper surveys the history of composition of Gavriil R. Derzhavin’s The Bullfinch (1800), a famous poem on the death of the celebrated Russian military commander Alexander V. Suvorov (1730–1800). An analysis of three versions of these elegiac stanzas demonstrates how Derzhavin consistently improved his style and metrics (the poem is written in a rare logaoedic verse form). The term hyperbaton was preserved in various disciplinary fields (classical philology, history of literature) until the late 20th—late 21st century, but in Russian studies, it gave way to the term inversion, which was supported by the pedagogical tradition. The purpose of the article is to establish the exact composition and order of letters in the final part of the Glagolitic alphabet. In the main part of the paper, the author analyses two unclear sections of the lists of letters in the treatise of the monk Hrabr. These are segments и҃ . пѣ҃ . хл҃ъ . тъ҃ at the end of the list of letters similar to the Greek ones, and ш҃ . ъ҃ . шь҃ . мь҃ . ъ in the list of letters proper to the Slavic language. Эта история произошла со мной года 3-4 назад. Работал я тогда начальником строительного управления. Выдался трудный рабочий день, и к его концу я был уставший, голодный и злой. По пути из кабинета к машине, чтобы ехать домой, я замечаю двух пьяных в дупель работяг. Если с ними что-то бы случилось на территории базы, то проблемы были бы первую очередь у меня, за то, что допустил пьянство на рабочем месте. Наорал я на них, пообещав вычесть из зарплаты этот день.
