Second most wanted NPA in Western Visayas nabbed in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY — The second most wanted New People’s Army (NPA) rebel in Western Visayas was nabbed in Miag-ao, Iloilo.
Raymund Paner, alias “Panen,” was arrested Sunday, July 3, in Barangay Tig-amaga by the Miag-ao Police Station, Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO), and Sibalom Police Station.
The 33-year-old NPA rebel from Sibalom, Antique was arrested for murder. Paner allegedly stabbed to death a man in Sibalom in 2017.
Paner is also facing another criminal case for assaulting a person of authority. He allegedly assaulted the man’s son, who was a barangay kagawad at that time.
After the murder, Paner fled and went into hiding. It was during this time that he allegedly joined the NPA.
Paner is said to be a member of the Squad 1, Suyak Platoon of the NPA Southern Front Committee in Panay Island.
