P3.8-M worth of smuggled cigarettes intercepted in Zamboanga del Sur
ZAMBOANGA CITY — Some P3.8-million worth of smuggled cigarettes loaded inside a vehicle were intercepted by authorities in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur on Sunday, July 3.
Intercepted by the police personnel and Bureau of Customs, the utility vehicle was carrying 109 cases of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated value of P3.815-million.
Police held the three suspects for violation of RA 8424, the Tax Reform Act of 1997.
The suspects, identified as Al Ibrahim, Nadz Esmael, and Madzmur Sahipa, were taken to the Dumalinao Municipal Police Station.
The seized cigarettes were turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
