DSWD provides aid to families affected by armed conflict in Occidental Mindoro
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its field office in Region IV-B, has provided assistance to families affected by armed conflict in Sitio Tiyabong, Brgy. Ligaya in the municipality of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro province.
Based on the report of the Disaster Response Management Division of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Sablayan, 284 families or 1,366 individuals have evacuated following an encounter between the Philippine Army and the New People’s Army on July 15.
DSWD-MIMAROPA (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) already sent around 250 family food packs and 81 hygiene kits amounting to P312,525.85 as augmentation assistance to the DSWD Social Welfare and Development Team of Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, DSWD will provide P10,000 burial assistance, under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program, to the family who lost their loved one due to the incident.
DSWD said it will continue to monitor the situation of the affected families to ensure that their needs are met sufficiently.
