Scorpio N On Sale In South Africa
Mahindra has launched the new generation of its legendary Scorpio SUV, i.e., the Scorpio N in the South African market.
The first gen of the Scorpio is hugely popular in South Africa due to its macho looks and rugged appeal. It is known to be a proper workhorse. Hence, the homegrown utility vehicle maker had also made available a pick-up truck version of the earlier Scorpio for that market. That’s why the new Scorpio N has been launched in SA within such a short period of time.
South African-Spec Scorpio N
The Scorpio-N that has gone on sale in South Africa looks identical to the Indian version and is available in three variants viz. the Z4, Z8, and Z8L. This model misses out on the base-spec Z2 variant.
The SUV is equipped with twin-pod headlamps with LED daytime running lights and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Powertrain Options
The SUV in the South African market draws power exclusively from Mahindra’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk diesel engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.
In South Africa, the brand has tuned the Scorpio N’s diesel motor to generate 172bhp and 400Nm of torque. The car comes mated solely to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The model is available with a RWD layout as standard along with selectable drive modes. While a 4×4 version is offered as an option, it comes with Mahindra’s 4XPLOR terrain modes.
Features
The SUV only gets a seven-seat configuration in the South African market and comes with the optional luxury pack for the top variants.
The list of features offered on the South African spec Scorpio-N is quite similar to that of the model sold in India. A powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, front and rear cameras, and connected car tech with built-in Alexa are part of the package.
It also gets a 12-speaker Sony 3D sound system, an air purifier, six airbags, dual barrel headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
