Small yet Sleek MG Comet launching in April 2023
In the past few years, MG motors have successfully made its mark in the Indian Automobile Industry by introducing various models like Hector, ZS EV, Gloster, and Astor. Recently, MG announced the name of their smallest EV car, the Comet. This car is expected to join the portfolio of MG’s lineup by the next month. MG Comet is expected to be launched by April 2023.
Design and features of MG Comet
MG Comet boasts a sleek and modern design. The aesthetics of this car looks gleaming with the boxy silhouette, LED DRLs running across the width, black ORVMs, black cladding with split LED Headlights, funky wheels, and snazzy dual-tone color. Even the rear fascia will resemble the front fascia with split taillights and a stop lamp beam running across the width of the car. Meanwhile, this car can be charged via the port beneath the MG moniker at the front. In the interior front, MG Comet will feature automatic climate control, dual 10.2” horizontal screens, a 2-spoke steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, voice command, etc.
Purpose of MG Comet
The new vehicle is set to be a smart electric car with a focus on city drivability. MG aims to make the Comet easy to maneuver around the congested streets of the city with its compact dimensions, making it perfect for city driving. In addition, MG has designed this car to be cost-effective, keeping expenses low in terms of maintenance, fuel costs, and environmental impact.
Powertrain Options
In certain markets, the Wuling Air EV comes with numerous powertrain options. We can expect some of its powertrain options in the Indian spec MG Comet EV. The battery pack ranges from 17.3 kWh to 26.7 kWh. Depending on the battery pack, the power figures and driving range figures vary from 41ps to 68ps and 200kms to 300 km respectively.
Platform and Variants
The MG Comet Electric Car, set to launch in 2023, will be built on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform developed in collaboration with SAIC-GM-Wuling. Rumors suggest that the car’s battery will be sourced from Tata Autocomp and feature LFP cells. As the smallest vehicle in MG’s lineup in India, the Comet offers an affordable entry point for customers looking to transition into the world of electric vehicles. It is worth noting that unlike the Wuling Air, which features only two doors and can accommodate up to four passengers in the LWB variant, the MG Comet is expected to be a four-door vehicle.
About its Daily driving purpose and rivals
