Apollo Tyres Launches Heroes on Wheels Campaign
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers, distributed Nutritional Baskets to 5 TB patients under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. These patients were adopted by the Ni-Kshay Mitra Apollo Tyres Foundation, which has committed to providing support to a total of 75 TB patients. To reduce inconvenience, the remaining patients will receive their Nutritional Baskets at their assigned TB unit. In addition, the Honourable Minister flagged off 75 trucks carrying TB messages provided by Apollo Tyres Foundation. These trucks will travel across states and bring the message directly to the masses.
Collaborative Efforts by Dr Mandaviya to control TB
During the Partnership for Action against Tuberculosis (PAcT) event, Dr Mandaviya, the union minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers, emphasized the importance of collaboration in the fight against tuberculosis. He called various Corporates, Institutions, Trade Bodies, Associations, Individuals, and other stakeholders to actively support India’s efforts to eliminate TB by 2025, which is five years ahead of the SDG target. India is committed to a 360-degree holistic approach. At this event, Union Minister highlights multi-sectoral engagement as a key pillar in the National TB Elimination Programme. He stressed the need to leverage the cooperation from all stakeholders to meet the country’s end TB target.
Health Ministry to control TB
In September 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ to accelerate India’s response against TB. This initiative allows industries, corporates, elected representatives, political parties, partners etc. to adopt either individual patients or larger areas like blocks, urban wards, districts, or states. Through this collaborative effort, the government aims to complement its own efforts and move closer towards ending TB in India. It is worth noting that this approach promotes a more comprehensive to eliminate TB, with stakeholders from all sectors coming together to fight this disease.
Role of Apollo Tyres in controlling TB
Apollo Tyres Foundation has launched the initiative to eliminate TB by partnering with the trucking community through their ‘Heroes on Wheels’ campaign. Truck drivers are a high-risk population for TB. And this campaign aims to raise awareness about the disease and its prevention amongst the audience. Ms Roli Singh, AS & MD NHM, MoHFW, Govt of India, has lauded Apollo Tyres Foundation’s efforts towards TB-related activities, noting that it will aid in the successful elimination of the disease in vulnerable groups across 32 locations in 19 states of the country. Gaurav Kumar, Chief Financial Officer, Apollo Tyres Ltd, also promised all support from Apollo Tyres Foundation to eliminate the TB disease.
