CoE Secretary General is concerned about instability of Armenian-Azerbaijani border
ArmInfo.Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejcinovic Buric, is concerned about
the instability of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"Concerned about reports of exchange of fire along the
Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Call on both sides to abstain from the use
of force. Dialogue is the only way to lasting peace," the CoE
Secretary General wrote on her microblog on Twitter (X).
On the morning of February 13, the Armenian Ministry of Defense
reported that the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire on Armenian
combat positions on the border in the Nerkin Hand (Syunik region).
According to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, four servicemen were
killed and one more was injured.
Azerbaijan not only does not deny the fact of aggression, but also
cynically stated that they carried out a 'revenge operation' in
response to a "provocation" by the Armenian military. At the same
time, they added that as a result of these actions, the Armenian
combat post was destroyed. It is noteworthy that all this is
happening in the territories of Armenia, which were previously
captured by the enemy side against the background of the
international community's tacit encouragement of Azerbaijani
aggression.
