Situation in Tavush remains tense
ArmInfo. The situation in Tavush remains tense.
This morning, residents of the village of Kirants blocked the bridge,
which is planned to be transferred under the control of Azerbaijan as
part of the delimitation process. People's nerves are on edge.
According to a local resident, the village of Kirants, with its
centuries-old history, has always been in a state of struggle, but
what is happening today raises great fears for its future fate. "We
are in a state of uncertainty. At first we were told about other
sections of the border, but now it turns out that the border should
pass along the lower part of the village, and it should pass next to
the bridge. As a result, it turns out that territories with much
larger sections will be transferred to Azerbaijan, than was
previously stated," the villager said.
He added that the villagers are not pursuing any political games with
their steps. "It is impossible for certain political figures or
groups of people to take any part in this process. We ourselves
intend to solve our problems by raising our voice of protest against
the decision of the RA government. According to their statements, in
our person they are dealing with a "proud citizen," having proclaimed
"There is a future" as his slogan, but now the question arises: does
Armenia have this future? Where are they leading the country, to
destruction? Will we give up lands again, until when? Enough, no more
places that we will give away," said the villager, calling on the
authorities to give them weapons with which they will defend the
country's borders.
On April 19, the commissions for demarcation of the border between
Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin demarcation of the border from
the Tavush region. According to them, the description of these
sections of the border line will be drawn up taking into account the
clarification of the coordinates that will be obtained as a result of
geodetic measurements on site. All this will be documented in the
appropriate protocol description, which must be agreed upon and
signed between the parties before May 15 of this year.
Armenia is unilaterally surrendering the country's sovereign
territories, fixed by the same Alma-Ata Declaration, without
receiving anything in return, including guarantees of non-aggression.
People are simply thrown out of their homes in a number of border
villages in order to pacify Azerbaijan, depriving them of the
opportunity to visit the graves of their ancestors, cultivate their
lands, pray in their churches and simply live in safety.
