EU Mission to Inspect Bulgaria's Progress on Justice, Internal Order Ahead of CVM Report
A European Commission expert mission on justice and internal order is expected to arrive in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
The EU officials are coming on a working visit to Bulgaria in order to inspect the country's progress in the area of justice and internal affairs.
The mission arrives ahead of the next Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) reports on Bulgaria and Romania, which are expected in January 2016.
The members of the mission will hold meetings with representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial authorities, daily Sega informs.
The visit of the experts comes days before the Bulgarian parliament is set to discuss the amendments to the constitution at second reading.
The ruling coalition is aiming to pass the amendments in the middle of January next year, just days before the CVM report is due.
The expectations are that the report on Bulgaria will be again a negative one as it will likely note the lack of progress in the judicial reform.
