Armenia’s forensic institution in need of legal regulation – minister
“The problem is that not a single legal act regulates the forensic examination in Armenia,” she said during the discussion of a draft law regulating forensic experts’ activities. “We have civil, penal and administrative codes that single out and regulate issues related to forensic examination. There are some provisions related to forensic experts.”
However, she said, many questions relating to the person’s rights but not regulated by a separate legal act remain unanswered.
“There are some problems connected with licensing specialists in ballistic, handwriting and other segments of forensic science,” Hovhannisyan said. “This area in Armenia is in need of regulation, since very often observance of human rights is directly due to forensic examination results.”
