New Armenia Front headquarters moves to Liberty Square
New Armenia Front continues its fight against Constitutional referendum.
Raffi Hovannisian, the leader of the Heritage Party, one of the Front's leaders, told reporters on December 2 that "No" Movement headquarters will join the rally in Liberty Square on December 3 in the evening.
"This will give a start to the unification of forces for overthrowing the corrupt regime," Hovannisian said. The New Armenia Front will be rallying and marching every day until the Constitutional referendum of December 6. Hovannisian said the residents of the region driving to Yerevan to join the rally were not let into the city at the request of the authorities.
Head of the Founding Parliament movement Zhirayr Sefilyan, in turn, said that New Armenia Front headquarter will be located in the Liberty Square. "We hope that we will manage to prevent the Constitutional referendum, as the new Constitution will misbalance the county," he said. New Armenia Front of Public Salvation launched its rallies on December 1.
On the same day, oppositionist Gevorg Safaryan and two other protesters were detained. The activists and police clashed. It is noteworthy that the leaders of the movement - Zhirayr Sefilyan and Raffi Hovannisian did not stay at the Liberty Square overnight, though Sefilyan had promised to stay out until December 6 to overthrow the power.
