NBC’s “The Voice” rose 24 percent in the key 18-49 demographic against CBS’ “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” airing. The reality competition jumped 20 percent among total viewers, and NBC won comfortably across Tuesday’s primetime.
CBS, which aired just reruns following the Christmas movie, settled for second in both main Nielsen metrics.
ABC finished third overall, while the CW bested Fox for fourth place.
NBC was first in ratings with a 2.1 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 10.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., “The Voice” reached a 2.6/9 and 12 million viewers. At 9, “Chicago Med” posted a 2.0/6 and 9.8 million viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 10 received a 1.9/6 and 8.5 million viewers.
CBS was second in ratings with a 1.4/5 and in viewers with 6.6 million. The “Rudolph” special at 8 had a 2.3/8 and 9 million viewers. Repeats followed.
ABC was third in ratings with a 1.1/4 and in viewers with 3.4 million. “The Muppets” at 8 got a 1.1/4 and 3.8 million viewers. “Fresh Off the Boat” at 8:30 had a 1.2/4 and 3.6 million viewers. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” at 9 received a 1.3/4 and 3.8 million viewers. A rerun followed.
The CW was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in viewers with 2.7 million. “The Flash” at 8 got a 1.4/5 and 3.9 million viewers. At 9, “iZombie” had a 0.6/2 and 1.6 million viewers.
Fox was fifth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.6 million. “Grandfathered” at 8 received a 0.9/3 and 3.1 million viewers. “The Grinder” at 8:30 had a 0.7/2 and 2.4 million viewers. “Scream Queens” at 9 got a 0.9/3 and 2.4 million viewers.
Univision and Telemundo tied for sixth in ratings, both with a 0.7/2. Univision was sixth in total viewers with 1.9 million; Telemundo was seventh with 1.8 million.
