Philadelphia Union reveal new stadium name
Philadelphia Union have announced that Talen Energy has officially assumed the naming rights to their home stadium, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
The power producer, already the official energy supplier of the Union, lends its name to the 18,500-seat venue after taking over from its parent company, PPL Corporation.
US-based Talen Energy was formed in June after PPL Corporation spun off its energy business and combined it with assets owned by Riverstone Holdings.
PPL Corporation signed a reported US$20 million, 11-year deal to name the venue PPL Park in February 2010. Reports that Talen Energy would take on the naming rights emerged this summer, but the Union opted not to rename the venue until the end of the 2015 season.
"We look forward to continuing a strategic and great partnership with Talen Energy and are truly excited for the stadium to have a new look come 2016," said Union chief revenue officer Dave Rowan.
"While the name will be changing, we remain solely devoted to bringing our loyal fans the best possible game-day experience and we welcome this change as a recommitment to our values."
