Boko Haram: 100 Terrorist Killed, 900 Hostages Freed-Army
According to the army and defence ministry, no fewer than 900 hostages have been freed and 100 terrorist killed by Cameroonian army in a Nigerian border operation.

Army spokesman, Colonel Didier Badjeck, said: “In the course of this operation, at least 100 members of Boko Haram were killed. Nine hundred hostages detained by Boko Haram were freed.”

The same figures have been cited in a brief statement on state television, as the army carried out the operation with backing from a regional anti-Boko Haram task force.
Associated Press reports that the militants are believed to have travelled from Nigeria to attack the border town.
According to Reuters, Cameroon has been a target for attacks since it became part of an 8,700 strong regional task force aimed at defeating Boko Haram with troops from Chad, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and Benin.
Col Jacob Kodji, a senior military officer, told pressmen that Boko Haram extremists in the country have begun using teenage suicide bombers and planting landmines.
“The extremist group has expanded its attacks into Cameroon, Chad and Niger, and two Cameroonian soliders were killed on Monday by a landmine planted in the northern Cameroonian village of Gangse,” Kodji added
It will be recalled that on the night of Tuesday, December 1, suspected Boko Haram militants detonated two suicide bombs in north Cameroon, where suicide bombings have become rampant.

Michel Oumarou, deputy prefect for Waza, said: “There was a double suicide attack last night in Waza in the far north of Cameroon with a toll of six dead, including the three kamikazees [attackers].”
There speculation though the death toll from the suicide attacks was likely higher than stipulated.
The United Nations (UN) has said that the dominance enjoyed by the dreaded Islamist sect plaguing the northeast of Nigeria and its borders, must be brought to an end now.
UN officials say the activities of the sects are threatening Cameroon’s economy and destroying the society, as the sect has devised means to lure youths.
