MAP remains in force and it will have political importance”, State Minister for Euro-Atlantic integration
According to State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Davit Bakradze, we can say without any exaggeration that the main goals of Georgia have been reached at this stage. Davit Bakradze made the abovementioned comment when assessing the NATO statement on Georgia.
"We, as a responsible government, have never created exaggerated expectations in this regard, but the progress is very important", - he stated.
According to him, it was stressed that Georgia has all the practical tools needed to join NATO.
“This means that the membership action plan (MAP) remains in force and it will have political importance”, said the Minister.
According to him, it was also important that the NATO foreign ministers reiterated respect for the territorial integrity of Georgia and condemned the so-called treaties signed between Russia and the secessionist regimes of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
“All this helps Georgia to continue preparations for the Warsaw summit”, said the Minister and also emphasized the significance of invitation of Montenegro to the membership talks.
