Pashinyan: Government will be replaced if people want it

The Armenian people can replace the current government in the country if they want it, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a briefing on Wednesday./pp “The opposition were not present [in the parliament] when a message on a potential call to dismiss the government was discussed,” Pashinyan noted./pp

Speaking of numerous police troops dispatched to the National Assembly in Yerevan, the Prime Minister said it was a regular procedure aimed at protecting public buildings and the rights of peaceful protesters./pp

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the leader of the Tavush for Homeland movement, called on his supporters to gather near the National Assembly building at 15.00 on Wednesday. Earlier on June 9, Galstanyan declared a 96-hour long strike and called on opposition members of the parliament to initiate an extraordinary parliamentary session to seek the resignation of the current government. On Monday morning, Galstanyan’s supporters set up a camp at Baghramyan Avenue in front of the National Assembly building, blocking the roadway./pp br/p
