MIA: demonstrators took helmets and batons from police officers
ArmInfo. The Armenian police once again call on the participants of the rally near the National Assembly to refrain from illegal actions.
The statement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular, notes that some participants of the rally, which is taking place at the intersection of Baghramyan Avenue and Demirchyan Street, threw bottles at the police officers, and took away police helmets and batons when they tried to break through the police wall. "The police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs once again call on the organizers and participants of the rally to refrain from illegal actions and not to provoke clashes. Any illegal manifestation will receive an appropriate criminal-legal assessment," the statement reads.
Notably, as a result of the police use of force and the resulting crush, AlphaNews journalist Arpine Baghdasaryan and cameraman Hovhannes Hakobyan were injured while performing their professional duties. As leader of the protest movement Bagrat Galstanyan stated, the police also detained journalist Abraham Gasparyan. Then his photo was spread on social networks, in which it can be seen that the journalist's face is completely covered in blood. The police confiscated his phone.
