Awful News from San Bernardino UPDATE

If you came across Esther's post, you will know that a horrible mass shooting occurred at a facility serving developmentally disabled people in San Bernardino, California.

According to Fox News, at least a dozen people are dead. Here is a sense of how dire the situation is:

The call came in around 11 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Waterman Avenue, at the Inland Regional Center, according to San Bernardino police Lt. Rich Lawhead. A makeshift triage center was set up outside the facility. A local NBC videographer reported there were not enough ambulances to transport victims, and that people were using pickup trucks to carry victims to triage areas.

If Esther is right and a Planned Parenthood facility was the intended target then we will hear about bitter and hateful rhetoric from the usual corners and lectures about gun violence from President Obama. If it turns out to be an act of Islamic terrorism those same voices will tell us not to jump to conclusions.

Whatever the cause this is awful news and once again we must endure a massive loss of life. God help us.

As you know by now there are 14 people dead and 17 people injured. I have just watched the press conference involving the FBI and local police. Two suspects, one male and one female, are dead following a confrontation with police in the neighboring community of Redlands. A police officer was injured, but his wounds are not expected to be life threatening. A third suspect was taken into custody. Explosives were found at the scene and possibly in and around the vehicle where the two suspects were killed.
