Karelia residents urge return of mobilized soldiers to protect border with NATO

0

The head of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, announced via social media the creation of an army corps to ensure the safety of the Russian border in the northwest. Parfenchikov did not specify who would be part of the military formation.

In the comments, citizens suggested appointing mobilized residents of Karelia as border guards.

"We ask you to bring mobilized soldiers from Karelia back to protect the border. This would be the best decision"; "Mobilized Karelia residents would be excellent at ensuring the safety of Karelia's borders!"; "They would be of use here as well, and their motivation would be higher," commented locals.

Karelia shares an almost 800 km border with Finland, which joined NATO on April 4, 2024. Following Finland's accession to the alliance, Vladimir Putin entrusted Karelian officials with creating an army corps.
