Bucharest (dpa) - One of the suspected masterminds behind the November 13 terrorist attacks on Paris spent time in Hungary in the summer, the Budapest government said Thursday. The man is believed to have "recruited" a group of refugees at Budapest‘s eastern train station and left the country with them, Janos Lazar, head of Prime Minister Viktor Orban‘s office, told the official MTI news agency. The Hungarian authorities were unaware of the events at the time and were later informed of them by the secret services of partner countries, Lazar said.Lazar did not give exact times for the alleged "recruitment," but referred to the refugee crisis that overwhelmed the Hungarian capital at the end of August and beginning of September when thousands of migrants camped out in the eastern rail station waiting to travel on to Austria and Germany.Belgium‘s RTL broadcaster reported earlier that one of the suspected Paris attackers, Salah Abdeslam, had travelled from Hungary with his accomplices. Those accomplices are believed to be two fighters returning from the civil war in Syria who blew themselves up during the Paris attacks.
