Ulta Salon shares up 6% after earnings beat
Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc. shares rose 6% late Thursday as the beauty-product retailer reported better-than-expected third-quarter results. Ulta said it earned $71.1 million, or $1.11 a share, in the quarter, compared with $59.1 million, or 91 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Sales rose 22% to $910.7 million, the company said. Comparable-store sales rose 11% in the quarter. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected Ulta to report earnings of $1.05 a share on sales of $880 million. Ulta shares ended the regular session down 0.2%.
