The Apprentice 2015: Scott Saunders claims ‘everyone’s enjoying The Clapham’ in cringeworthy real estate sales pitch
When sales pitches go wrong, it can make for some of the most cringeworthy scenes on The Apprentice.
The latest task sees Lord Sugar give the candidates their most expensive product to sell ever – London property.
Little can prepare you for the sheer watch-through-your-fingers horror of business hopeful Scott Saunders attempting to sell a studio flat.
Watched over by a horrified Brett Butler-Smythe, who cringes through the entire pitch, Saunders attempts to talk up the benefits of South London by saying that “it’s very highly populated by everybody”, and that “everybody’s enjoying the Clapham”.
If extolling the virtues of the local area (“dry cleaners, off licenses, fish and chips”) doesn’t exactly thrill his clients, neither do his bartering skills.
Asked if any discount could be offered on the property, Scott replies, “What would you… like?”, as Brett holds his head in his hands.
“It’s a tough old game,” Saunders says to the cameras after the sales attempt. “It’s down to clients, down to preferences, down to people, how they feel, what they want, it’s really hard.”
It was recently revealed that Saunders – spoiler alert – sensationally quit the show after receiving too much negative criticism from Lord Sugar.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Lord Sugar was absolutely ruthless. He tore apart everything that Scott had done from start to finish and called him a waste of space.”
Will he make it through the latest episode of the show? Tune in to find out.
