Astral has not made a bid

Astral continues to explore strategic options, which could include buying Sovereign Food Investments, but has make no bid yet.

Johannesburg - South African poultry producer Astral Foods said on Thursday that it continues to explore strategic options, which could include the acquisition of Sovereign Food Investments.

However, it has made no takeover bid and was not in takeover talks.

“Shareholders are advised that Astral Foods has not made any offer to, or entered into any negotiations with, any poultry producers or any of their shareholders to acquire securities in such poultry producers.

“Astral Foods has not made any approach to the board of Sovereign Foods or any other poultry producer with a view to an offer being made and there is no certainty that a transaction may or may not occur,” Astral said in a statement.

It also advised shareholders to exercise caution when trading.
